flaming lips / metric / caravan palace

lebreton flats, ottawa

despite multiple tries, i really couldn't get into the flaming lips until the release of embryonic. i think that this record really stands out in their discography very starkly; i'd argue it's their masterpiece, and by far their most interesting work. so, it had been on heavy repeat in my mp3 player for quite a while at this point, but i was only vaguely familiar with - and largely lukewarm to - their older material. so, i went to the show hoping for a lot of material from their newest record. i didn't quite get what i wanted, but the show was certainly extravagant. i was there early enough to catch caravan palace & metric, as well. i'm actually only vaguely familiar with metric, and wasn't particularly moved by the set (it's generic power pop...).

i was able to get almost all of the ottawa set, minus two tracks, and was unable to find a more complete show in one place. as i was going to paste something together anyways, i decided to insert those two tracks from a polish source and upload the file that way. the playlist up above is ottawa only; the video below is a whole show, due to the polish inserts.

& here are sets from metric & caravan palace, as well:
