tancred almost certainly did not have two sons named william. i'm willing to believe that william and mauger were brothers, but not that either of them were brothers of any of the other so-called sons of tancred. this william seems to have revolted against robert guiscard and seems to have had his castle burnt as a result. count of the principate under humphrey I. william shared his titles with his supposed brother geoffrey, supposedly due to his deep love for him. william and geoffrey may actually have been lovers. the page on geoffrey explores this in some more depth.
